Have I ever told you the "Tale of the two woodcutters"?

I wish I could take credit – but I cannot.  I listen to several hours of Audio Books each week.  About Business, Self Improvement and how to be better at the ‘craft’ of Life.

Chet Holmes relayed the following story in one of his latest books.

There were Two Woodcutters, Lumberjacks if you will.  They were being interviewed and tested to see who would get the single position the employer had to offer.

So the task was simple, they were given the same tools and told the one that cuts the most wood in eight hours, would gain full time employment with benefits. (these were hard economic times, not unlike today)

They were left to the task in a dense forest.  At the end of eight hours, the owner of the lumber company returned to find both woodcutters resting.

The owner observed clearly that Lumberjack number 2 had cut almost 3 times as much wood as Lumberjack 1.

After the owner pointed out this fact, Lumberjack 1 was very upset.  He exclaimed, “That is impossible, there is no way you could have cut more wood than me, every time I looked behind me, to see your progress, you were resting…”

Lumberjack 2 responded, “I wasn’t resting, I was sharpening my saw…”

Now get out there and sharpen your saw!!!
